Stone Cottage

What better way to experience the true Baja Sur than a unique stone cottage directly on the sand, thirty feet from the waterline on a private beach. The structure features two-foot thick stone walls, a thatched palapa roof, and a series of arched windows (with wooden shutters) looking out onto the sand and surf. This intimate beachside cottage offers spectacular views of the Sea of Cortez and the area's wildlife; from flocks of pelicans to breaching humpback whales, you can view it all from your private cottage.

This romantic one-room cottage features a comfortable Queen-sized bed with insect netting, fireplace with driftwood, and solar electric light. Bathroom amenities are rustic but clean and include a lukewarm outdoor shower and nearby latrine. Ice and water are provided. This cabin is not for the timid, but is unsurpassed for its intimate connection to the famed Baja shore. One of the most popular rentals at Villa del Faro, it is obviously for the young at heart, the inveterate camper. Originally built for overnight picnics for the many children in the family, it has a definite fairy tale quality, a house perfect for Bilbo Baggins!

A driveway provides vehicle access to a small dirt parking area near a large tiled summer house (a covered veranda set in the rocks with outdoor furniture and recessed solar-powered lighting) where you may unload your bags and make your way to the cottage. It is the only cottage on this beautiful beach where you'll be able to build fires, grill fresh fish caught from shore, stroll along the surf, and even swim if the surf and tide isn't too high. Swimming is always safe and easy for all ages at the beach just a few minutes walk to the north. Fantastic snorkling and diving can be done just a short drive up the Coast.

Rates are $140 US per night along with an additional 14% local sales tax. Two night minimum stay is required for the Stone Cottage. Full gourmet breakfast included.
